Origin and Evolution of Vasavi Sangam

There is a need to bring all the Vysya community together on a common platform and exchange their views and opinions, and to honor officers, doctors, engineers, lawyers and those who have visited foreign countries. Taking this as one of the principles and goals, on October 1, 1961, Late Kalvakuntla Chandrasena Gupta (K.C.Gupta) started the first Vasavi Sangam with eleven members. He is not only a freedom fighter and founder but also hailed as the 'Father of the Vasavi Sangam Movement'.

As the Vasavi movement expanded from the national level to the international level with new branches being started, the name of the 'All India Association of Vasavi Clubs' was changed to the 'International Association of Vasavi Clubs' in 2007. Later, the name was changed again to 'Vasavi Clubs International' in 2008. Registered in Hyderabad on 23 September 2008, Registration No.: 800/2008.

The story of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari

Those who wished to walk on the path of Dharma approached the sage Saunak, who was a great ascetic and had read the Puranas in the Naimisaranya forest: 'O holy soul! We have been fortunate enough to hear the eight and ten Puranas through you. Now, we wish to hear the duties of the Vaisyas, why we took this unique birth, and the story of Kanyakamba. Let us listen to the explanation given by the sage Saunak.
When Sri Parameswaran was happily married to Parvati, the gods came with gifts and praised him. At that time, Kubera alone did not bring any gifts. When Shiva heard this, he asked why he had come, and he replied: 'My Lord, the world has been destroyed due to the troubles of Tarakasuran. Especially because of your mercy, the merchants with good morals have become weak. There are no traders. Due to this, the people have lost their wealth and become poor.' Hearing this, Parvati and Parameswaran called the Vaishya clan and said: 'You who have all the wealth should now go to the world.'
Parameswaran replied, 'Arrangements have been made for the 714 Vysyas of the Penukonda tribe to live with all the wealth and resources and live happily as if they were living in another Kailash.' In this way, the 714 tribes lived happily here. Kusumashreshti, who was born in the Penlikula tribe by the grace of God, and his wife Karpukkarasi Kusumamba, the couple, lamented that they were not blessed with a son.
They brought in the clan guru, Bhaskaracharya, and asked him what he should do to have a son. "Just as Dasharatha performed the Putragameshti sacrifice and got Sriman Narayana as his son, if you also perform that sacrifice, your wish will be fulfilled," he said. Similarly, when they performed the sacrifice, Agni Deva appeared and offered the payasam for childbearing. They were very happy when a son and a daughter were born to the couple. On Friday, the fifth day of Vaishaka Suddha Dashami, a girl was born with the brilliance of a crores of suns in the Punarvasu star. Bhaskaracharya calculated the horoscope of the children and named the son as Vrupaksha Shreshti and the daughter as Vasavamba. Kusumashreshti started looking for a suitable groom to marry his daughter Vasavi, who was growing up like a princess with divine light. In that situation, Vishnuvardhan of the Chandra dynasty, who ruled with Rajamahendra as his capital, stayed in an oasis near Penukonda on his way back after winning a war.
After visiting Nagareswara Swami, the king was wandering around the city and was enchanted by the beautiful Vasavi. He decided to marry her. 612 clan members refused, saying that it was right for Vasavi to marry the king, and the remaining 102 clan members could not accept a mixed-caste marriage. Bhaskaracharya also informed the king that mixed marriages were not possible. But the king, who was overcome with love, had no other choice but to marry her to him. He vowed that no one could stop this.
Bhaskaracharya explained to the Vaishyas the glory of the incarnation of Vasavi Kanyaka and the Kula Dharma, and explained that the final solution was for them to enter the fire. He told the 612 clan members who refused to accept this to leave that place.
Then, 103 yajna kundas were prepared. Finally, they praised Nagareswara Swamy and lit the fire. Before the fire, Vasavi Mata cursed, "Whoever is with me in the fire, his head will explode and die on hearing this news." After that, the 102 katras would be known as Aryan Vysyas and would live with all the wealth and honor of my memory.
The story of Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Amman, the goddess who cherished and protected the tribal dharma, is unique. Her teachings will make life complete.
